Simply Allie Elaine
Hi there,
My name is Allie! I am a twin, a movie lover, avid reader, and I love to help others! I also enjoy traveling, music, and spending time with my family, friends, and my three dogs. I have Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and I am an Intake Coordinator at a counseling office.
I am also a person with a disability. I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP) when I was nine months old. While this disability does not define me, it definitely is a part of me and has made me who I am today.
While I love my job, I have always felt that I was meant to help and work with people with disabilities. Since graduating college, I have been trying to figure out a way to make this passion of mine a part of my daily life; and I think this blog will allow me to do just that!
My goal for this blog is to be open and honest about everything that comes with life and having a disability; day to day life, traveling, beauty, fashion, and to provide tips and tricks that have helped me along the way!
While my disability is physical, and I can only speak from my personal experiences, my hope for this blog is to welcome everyone; those with and without disabilities, and all disabilities no matter what type or severity level! I want this blog to be a space that brings awareness to those with disabilities and starts the conversation. The topic of disabilities is not something that is discussed often, and it is something that should be more normalized.
Everyone has interacted, seen or known someone with a disability at some point in their life. Whether it be a stranger you have passed by, a classmate, a friend, a family member, a loved one, or even yourself. I want this blog to be a place where those without a disability can come to gain more information and awareness, get a question answered or find a way to best support their loved one with a disability. I want those with disabilities to come to the blog and feel seen, and supported, to gain confidence, empowerment, self-love, and self-acceptance.
My disability is my struggle, but it is also my strength, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
